Linux Lounge
What is it, and how did it start? You may ask. Well like all good ideas in a Pub after one of Bristol Wireless management meetings in July 2006. The general discussion was about the “Cyber Tent LTSP Suite” used by Bristol Wireless at several festival and gatherings during the past years. “What we need is a mobile unit to house the LTSP suite” Like a Bus! Well that was my trigger point. Many years ago I had the idea of building a mobile disco with a difference, in a Bristol VRT double decker. Why not a mobile training suite in a double decker. With the help of “Ebay” we managed to locate several decker’s, one a converted MCW Metrobus located in Bristol. We now own that bus and have nearly converted it, to an “Open Source” training suite using a LTSP server and ten thin clients on the upper deck and a cyber café / hygiene training on the lower deck.
